Students who enjoy swimming are able to use the Manchester Aquatics Centre; this was built for the Commonwealth Games in 2002. It has an Olympic sized pool and a full range of diving boards. It is less than 5 minutes walk away from School of the Word. In contrast to using the sports centre, students using the Aquatics Centre will have to pay an admission charge at a student rate.

King’s House also has a secure covered bike store for students and staff who wish to keep fit by cycling in to School of the Word through the many cycle lanes around Manchester city centre. School of the Word houses are around 2 miles away and cycling is the preferred means of transport for some students. It is usually quicker to cycle than come by car or bus.
